Vuyo Lee is the Director of Marketing and Corporate Affairs for the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE). She joined the JSE in March 2021 and brings extensive corporate knowledge and experience having worked in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) and financial services industries for over 20 years.

In her role, Vuyo oversees the JSE’s brand marketing, communications and reputation management, events, and government relations. She further manages the corporate social investment programme and the JSE’s Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) agenda for the group.

Prior to joining the JSE, she was the Chief Marketing Officer for Old Mutual Limited, responsible for the group’s brand and reputation management. In that role, she executed the company’s communication and brand strategy, both internally and externally, contributing to its successful listing on five stock exchanges in Africa and the United Kingdom. She also led the successful refresh of the Old Mutual brand and its corporate positioning in the social and economic landscape.

Before her tenure at Old Mutual in the capacity of Chief Marketing Officer, Vuyo was an executive at MMI Holdings (now Momentum Metropolitan Holdings), where she provided strategic direction on MMI’s brand and corporate affairs strategies. Her portfolio included marketing, communication, stakeholder management, transformation, corporate social investment and positioning of the organisation’s multiple brand portfolio.

She started her career at Coca-Cola Southern Africa as a graduate leading to a role at Amalgamated Beverage Industries, where she worked in market insights and business planning. Following her tenure in the FMCG industry, she undertook various senior roles for ten years at the then Old Mutual South Africa and Mutual & Federal businesses in strategy, operations, marketing and research, customer experience and transformation functions.

Vuyo finds deep fulfilment in leading and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. She seeks personal growth in everything she does and pays it forward through mentorship. Vuyo is inspired by the new generation of leaders and professionals, whose different approach to work challenges her to think and lead differently.

Vuyo holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from Wits University and an MBA from UCT’s Graduate School of Business.
