About Us

Join the Movement

At Business Engage, we created the Gender Mainstreaming Awards to drive real change – by recognising and rewarding private sector companies and individuals that are committed to advancing diversity, fostering inclusion, and cultivating a true sense of belonging in the mainstream of business.

We invite your organisation to enter the awards and to nominate outstanding individuals for the prestigious individual categories. With a range of categories tailored to reflect your organisation’s current stage in its diversity journey, there’s a place for every company – whether you’re just starting out or already making bold strides.

Gender diversity may still be an emerging focus in many parts of the world, and we understand that not every organisation is at the same point. That’s exactly why these awards matter. Use this platform as a catalyst to take your transformation efforts to the next level.

There is no cost to submit an application.

The awards span East Africa, West Africa, and Southern Africa, with a key requirement that all finalists attend the prestigious Gender Mainstreaming Awards events.

Additionally, there are exclusive sponsorship and partnership opportunities available for those who wish to position themselves as true champions of gender mainstreaming. We would be delighted to explore these with you.

Please contact us here.

Be part of the change. Be recognised.

Best practice in Gender Mainstreaming in the Private Sector

There exists a global understanding that there is a solid business case for the private sector to embrace Gender Mainstreaming within the fabric of the organisation. This document provides the best practices for Gender Mainstreaming in the South African private sector. It is the result of over two years research by Business Engage into international trends. Over two hundred global academic papers, commercial reports, blogs and general articles have been perused and combined with local knowledge.

The private sector is encouraged to consider these best practices and to implement the chosen best practices in their Gender Mainstreaming endeavours. They are further welcome to adapt and experiment with these best practices to suit their own environment. A “one size fits all” approach is not advocated.
