Subashnee Moodley is by profession an attorney, conveyancer, and notary public holding BA(LAW) and LLB degrees from the University of KwaZulu Natal. She started practicing as an Attorney in 2000 and specializes in property and commercial law. She is currently a Senior Partner and also the immediate past Chair and Managing Partner at Livingston Leandy Inc in Durban, a firm whose history goes back more than 134 years. Subashnee’s passion for empowering and mentoring young leaders and professionals has resulted in her involvement in numerous boards and organisations including Business Engage and the 30% Club of SA, Woza Women in Law and the Woza Leadership Academy, South African Institute of Black Property Practitioners, Black Lawyer’s Association (BLA), South African Women Lawyers Association (SAWLA), NADEL (National Association of Democratic Lawyers) and Women in Property.

Her unwavering commitment to inclusivity and diversity has resulted in her receiving various awards and recognition over the last few years such as the 2017 SA Women in Property Network – KZN Regional Winner in the category Women in Property: Corporate/Private Sector; and 2020 KZN Regional winner in the Inclusive Leader, Gender Mainstreaming Awards.

Subashnee’s humble background and determination to be the generational change in her family, forms the foundation of her story. She presents herself as a professional who has chosen motherhood and a trailblazing career, along with the several other hats she wears. She encourages professionals across industries to lead in the boardroom, redefine and shape organisations and if they choose to, to still be parents and spouses/partners who nurture happy, healthy families.

As a leader, she is committed to transforming the corporate landscape and leadership culture to one that embraces soft skills, diversity, and inclusivity. She uses various platforms to share her own experiences to relay the importance of humility, vulnerability, kindness, respect, compassion, and confidence, all of which are critical ingredients for authentic leadership. Her climb up the corporate ladder, pushing barriers, and shattering glass ceilings, while traversing many challenges and losses along the way, is a story of resilience and inspiration. Her leadership journey, the mistakes made, and the lessons learnt, provides valuable insights and motivation for leaders and future leaders in various industries.
