Cynthia is a marketing communications professional with over 13 years of experience, and whose career has focused on corporate communications, marketing (traditional and digital), brand development, strategy, public, media and government relations, CSR/CSI, and events management.
She is currently responsible for formulating and driving the implementation of strategic communications and marketing initiatives at Hollard Ghana, a multinational group in Ghana with life and general insurance businesses. Her work is aimed at enhancing the company’s brand, identifying new market opportunities, increasing brand profitability, and sustainably growing the business.
In the past, Cynthia has held leadership roles at top advertising and communications agencies including Ogilvy, Now Available Africa, and Global Media Alliance; managing projects for multinational and local clients across West and Central Africa. She also worked in the USA, notably for Vox Global, a Fleishman Hillard public affairs company and in the UK. Early in her career, she honed her skills in strategy at reputable Ghanaian management consulting firm, Shawbell Consulting.
Under her leadership, Cynthia’s employers and clients have won international and local awards including awards by, Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana, Ghana Insurance Awards, Chartered Insurers Institute Ghana, SABRES (Europe Middle East Africa, and Africa Region) IPRG PR Excellence, Gong Gongs and more.
Cynthia once taught freshman university students, and athletes in the USA; is a published author in the Journal of College University Student Housing, (USA); given a USA TEDx Talk on challenging stereotypes about Africa; been a Guest Speaker at the prestigious PR Holmes and African Public Relations Association (APRA) 2019 Rwanda Conference; moderated and presented multiple others.
Cynthia co-founded Ghana’s first private basketball league, and led comms for TEDxAccra, organisers of thought-leadership events, TEDxAccra, TEDx Accra Women and Africa Dialogues. Cynthia has an M.A. Professional Communication, from Clemson University, USA, and a B.A. Economics, minor French, from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana. In addition, a Consulting Specialist Certificate from Ghana Institute of Consulting; and currently pursuing a digital marketing certificate from the Digital Marketing Institute.
On the art of communication, Cynthia believes great communicators are those who think broadly, adapt easily, interpret “glocally”, know what and who is current, and can tell a compelling story.
She enjoys spending time with loved ones and taking adventure trips in her spare time.
