Born and bred in rural Limpopo SA, Busisiwe is a transformational leader with over 20 years’ wealth of experience in Responsible Business and Socio-Economic Transformation incl. BBBEE (Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment), CSI (Corporate Social Investment), Stakeholder Management, Ethics, Compliance, Environment Management and Diversity & Inclusion.
She is passionate about economic emancipation of Africans, with a purpose to unleash the inner potential of Africa, for it to thrive economically. She started her career as a Social Worker in the NGO sector, moved to government and then corporate where she wanted to tap into more resources to bring real change to the lives of Africans, both economically & socially. She then acquired experience in the Mining, Audit & Accounting, Oil & Petroleum and Financial Services Sectors, occupying various managerial and executive roles in companies such as Impala Platinum, Ernst & Young, BP, Shell, Old Mutual Insure and Momentum Metropolitan Holdings, where she lead the company to be the first in the insurance industry to achieve B-BBEE Level 1 under the revised B-BBEE codes. She is currently an executive at Absa Group, heading up Transformation, Diversity & Inclusion throughout the group, and previously lead the company to achieving B-BBEE Level 1 for the first time. Busisiwe is also passionate about the women agenda, and recently lead the development of Absa’s very first Women’s Manifesto. She is also a chairperson of Dynamic Women Investment Holdings, a women-owned investment company. She is currently a Doctoral Candidate, pursuing a Doctorate in Business Leadership degree, focusing on Economic Transformation, and holds an MBA, Degree in Social Work, and Project Management Certificate.
She is also a wife and blessed with 2 children, a beautiful 16 year old African Princess and 10 year old loving Prince who has Orange Belt in Karate, and thinks his mom is the coolest as she is also a Karateka with a Brown Belt.
