Birgit la Cour Madsen is a seasoned diplomat with more than 15 years of experience in the Danish foreign service working at the intersection of international trade, innovation, the promotion of private sector led growth, sustainable development and poverty alleviation. She has a strong background in gender sensitive project and program formulation, management and evaluation in a variety of different cultural contexts within Africa and Asia. She holds a M.Phil Honours in International Development Studies from the Institute of Development Studies, Sussex University. She is an enthusiastic globetrotter, a mother of three and a firm believer in the transformative power of increased gender equality.
