Jeanett Modise is the Group Human resources Director for Sanlam Limited with effect from 2019. Prior to that she was Executive Head for People and Transformation at Santam since 2014 when she joined the Sanlam Group, then Chief HR Officer for Sanlam Investments Group.

An accomplished Group HR Director with extensive executive experience driving HR strategy and operations in local and global organisations within the financial, technology, and mining sectors. An innovative problem solver, strategic decision-maker, and strong communicator. Jeanett is results-driven, with a proven ability to efficiently prioritize and lead multiple strategic projects in fast changing business environments. A strong team builder and collaborator with the ability to lead organizational culture, change and transformation in dynamic, customer-focused, growth businesses where the attraction, retention, and development of top talent is one of the key business drivers. Has led multidisciplinary teams including procurement, facilities, business continuity, culture, transformation, and most recently pandemic management.

Jeanett has passion for people, culture, and digital transformation and has received several consummate achievements in her career as an HR Professional. She was awarded the Future of HR Hall of Fame in 2017, a Lifetime Award for her contribution to the HR fraternity, impacting business, performance, and culture through innovative human capital management strategies, for more than 10 years. She received the IDC Innovative Leader Award as well as the Best Leader in People Development.

Jeanett is currently Executive Director on the board of Sanlam Limited and Sanlam Life. She has worked with C-suite executives and Boards for more than twenty years. Served as Non-Executive Director (NED) and Chair of the board HR & Remuneration committee of Foskor, NED for Cordustex; Indwe Broker Holdings; MiWay Insurance and Save the Children South Africa, a global NGO that focuses on the rights of children. She serves on the Advisory Board of Chief HR Officer South Africa

She holds an Masters in Business Leadership and B. Com Business Management (Unisa); Senior Executive Programme (Harvard); Advanced Management Programme (Instead) and is busy with M.Phil Management Coaching with (Stellenbosch Business School). She started her career as a Professional Nurse and Midwife, before pursuing her career in HR. A creative and adaptable self-starter with experience of elegantly navigating careers and changes in business dynamics. She mentors young leaders and is involved in community development work. A lifelong learner, lover of nature and travel.
